Background and Vision

The Hong Kong School Nurses Association Ltd. was established in 2010. The vision of the ‘Hong Kong School Nurses Association’ is to enhance the capacity building for the professional development of school nursing in Hong Kong and to promote the health and well-being of school-age children, adolescents, parents and school personnel in the communities.

Goals

1. To share best practices and resources among professional school nurses;
2. To enhance continuing education and professional development for school nursing practices;
3. To advocate the roles of school nurses by developing guidelines for school nurses’ competencies;
4. To set international benchmarking for the development of school nursing; and
5. To advocate for “One School One Nurse” school health policy in Hong Kong .

 

Objectives

The objectives for which HKSNA is established are:

1. To act as a unified voice of the school nurses dedicated to providing nursing care of optimal professional standards.
2. To promote communication among school nurses and other organizations caring for children and adolescents, their families and school personnel.
3. To promote a positive image of school nursing and its influence on care of children and adolescents, their families and school personnel.
4. To promote interest and professional growth of school nurses.
5. To do all such other lawful things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the above objectives, or to the interest of the community at large.
